The 8892ha Gunbower National Park is a unique and diverse floodplain of River Red Gum and Black Box Forests on Gunbower Island, formed between the Murray River and Gunbower Creek.  The park is ideal for camping and a range of recreation activities, including Bush walking, Horse Trail riding and Mountain Bike riding.Clay tracks advise 4WD vehicles only in wet weather conditions.

Kow (Ghow) Swamp is a large water storage with a circumference of 15 kilometres and a capacity of 50,910 megalitres. It is located 3km south of Leitchville and 6 kms from Gunbower and is in the Shire of Campaspe. Observe many bird species including; White-bellied Sea Eagle, Brolga, Magpie Geese and Australian. The natural waterways are accessible for Kayaks, Canoes and small boats.
